CAIXA CULTURAL BRASÍLIA RECEIVES VIRGINIA RODRIGUES
Celebrating 20 years of his career,
the Bahian singer performs her biggest hits
CAIXA Cultural presents, between November 16 and 18, the tour of the singer Virgínia Rodrigues with special participation of Tiganá Santana, in commemoration of its 20 years of career.
With unparalleled musical sophistication, allied with the stripping and intense stage energy, Virgínia Rodrigues thrilled the audience with its powerful and velvety singing that transits between the popular and the erudite.
The singer was discovered in 1997 by Márcio Meirelles, from the Olodum Theater Band. And it was in one of her plays that Caetano Veloso saw her for the first time and Virginia was thrown from Salvador to the world. The story made American journalists nicknamed “Brazilian Cinderella.”
The artistic career of Tiana Santana – a composer, singer, guitarist, poet, researcher and partner of Virgínia Rodrigues – is of great relevance to the Afro-Brazilian culture. Graduated in Philosophy, the artist was the first Brazilian composer to present songs in African languages.
Always accompanied by excellent musicians, the singer from Bahia will share the stage in Brasília with Bernardo Bosisio and Leonardo Mendes on guitars, Marco Lobo and Sebastian Notini on percussion, and Iura Ranevsky on the cello.
